NSCDC to intervene in disaster management

Following recent havoc wreaked by rainstorm in Ondo State, the State Commander of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr Philip Ayuba has promised to carry out the corps mandate on disaster and crisis management.
Ayuba made this known while addressing officers and men of the command at the just concluded annual International Civil Defence Day at its headquarters Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.
The Hope Metro learnt that the annual event with theme “Civil Defence and a first aider in every home,” holds every March 1.
“He said: this is the time to remind ourselves our duties in the society.
The commander said, they should be proactive by giving information that would alert the general public in the face of any disaster particularly, during the harmattan.
“According to weather forecast, it has been predicted that it will rain this year. Disaster management and rescue operation is the mandate of civil defence. Men of the civil defence should continue to put in their best in the face of any crisis and disaster within our terrain.
