Obadofin backs Aiyedatiwa, cites infrastructure, prudence, inclusive governance

The National Convener of the Good Governance Initiatives, Obadofin Ademola, has reaffirmed his support for Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, attributing his stance to the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, fiscal discipline and inclusive governance.

Speaking exclusively, Obadofin said the governor had demonstrated commitment to development through road and infrastructure projects spread across the 18 local government areas of the state.

According to him, infrastructure remains a key measure of effective governance because of its direct impact on economic activities and the welfare of citizens.

“When you build a road, you connect people to opportunities, assist farmers to move produce to markets, support businesses and improve the lives of ordinary people. That is why infrastructure is one of the strongest indicators of serious governance,” he said.

Obadofin also commended Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style, describing the governor as humble, accessible and people-oriented.

“In an environment where leaders can become disconnected from the people, his calm disposition and accessibility are qualities worthy of commendation,” he stated.

He further lauded the administration’s management of public resources, stressing that prudent use of limited funds remained essential to delivering projects and meeting public expectations.

“Government has limited resources and unlimited demands. The ability to prioritise and manage resources responsibly while delivering projects is important,” he said.

On inclusiveness, Obadofin said the governor had shown commitment to accommodating diverse interests and ensuring that governance was not restricted to any political group.

“Ondo State is bigger than any individual or political party. Everyone should have a sense of belonging,” he added.

The Good Governance Initiatives convener maintained that his support for the governor was not driven by personal interests but by his conviction that good governance should be encouraged, while constructive criticism should also be embraced where necessary.

He urged residents of the state to assess governments based on tangible achievements rather than political rhetoric.

“Development is visible. Infrastructure either serves the people or it does not. That is why administrations should be judged by their impact,” he said.

Obadofin reaffirmed his support for the Aiyedatiwa administration, citing its emphasis on infrastructure, responsible resource management, humility and inclusive governance as reasons for his position.
