Ondo State House of Assembly will tomorrow begin a public hearing on a bill for a law to establish rearing and grazing of livestock and to provide for the establishment of ranching and other matters thereto,
This is just as the House refuted the rumour making the rounds that the Speaker of the House, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Youth and Sports, Akogun Olubenga Omole during a press briefing at the conference room of the Assembly complex posited that it is totally far from the truth that the speaker was invited.
The spokeperson added that “To set the record straight, up till this moment, the Speaker of the house has not been invited by the EFCC, that is the truth. Though, there is an issue, there was a petition written by a member of the assembly and it is being dealt with, those involved have been invited but the stories on social media that the speaker was invited is fake”.
A public hearing on a bill for a law to establish the Ondo State Drugs and Health Commodity Management Agency will hold as well.
According to him, the purpose of public hearing is to harmonize stakeholders opinion and come up with robust outcome that will serve the interest of the masses.
He said that Ondo state government has taken a position that illegal occupants of the state forest reserves should vacate.
In realisation of the government order, he added that the bill was sent to the assembly and as a responsible arm of government which has a proper way of doing it’s things will do the needful.
Also speaking, the Chairman House Committee on Health, Dr Abiodun Faleye informed that the bill is aimed at centralizing the distribution of drugs in the state so as to ensure proper monitoring and equally protect people from purchasing harmful drugs.
Other lawmakers who spoke at the briefing, ,Mrs Favour Tomomewo, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan and Mr Toluwani Borokini posited that the assembly will always pass bills that would benefit all and sundry in the state.
