The Ondo State House of Assembly has recommended the clearance of a 2014 audit query concerning Akure South Local Government.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Mr. Olatunji Ifabiyi, recommended the clearance when he led other members on an on-the-spot assessment of the Iwoye Basic Health Maternity Centre in Akure.

He expressed satisfaction with what they encountered on-site, noting that the project has been completed.
Ifabiyi urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure due diligence by backing up every query with vouchers to resolve pending issues.
According to him, none of these projects originated from the present management; however, in governance, assets and liabilities are typically inherited. Hence, based on this, the management must be proactive in addressing the audit query.

He, however, expressed displeasure over the absence of the Chairman of the Transition Committee but stated that since the Head of Local Administration has done the necessary work by presenting relevant documents, the House of Assembly will proceed to close the query.
The Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Modupe Omoloja, thanked the Committee for taking the time to inspect the project.
She explained that the issue has lingered for long and expressed delight that, after reviewing the vouchers and the project themselves, the Committee has finally recommended the clearance of the query.
The HOLGA assured that available resources would be adequately utilised for the development of the local government.
