ODHA passes bill establishing Security Trust Fund

Ondo State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill to provide for the establishment of State House of Assembly Service Commission and a bill for the establishment of State Security Trust Fund.
Report of the Committees set up to scrutinise the two bills had earlier been presented to the House at its plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.
Presenting the report on establishment of the State House of Assembly Service Commission,on behalf of the House Committee on Selection, the Deputy Speaker,Rev Samuel Aderoboye observed that the bill when passed into law will regulate the activities of the commission with regards to the appointment, discipline, and promotion of staff.
He added that it will regulate the tenure appointment and duration of members of the commission among others.
While briefing the House, it was made known that necessary areas of the bill have been scrutinized and urged the House to consider it for passage.
After thorough debate it was considered for approval and the Speaker ruled in favour of the bill after a voice vote.
In the same vein, while presenting the report on the bill on Security Trust Fund, the Chairman House Committee on Security, Ololade Gbegudu observed that the bill when passed into law will not only catered for security agencies in terms of training and equipment, but will enhance the security system of the State.
He added that the bill would go a long way in relieving the state government from the burden of providing monies from the state budget as well as ensuring that there is transparency, probity and accountability in the effective usage of the donated funds.
The Speaker, Oleyelogun noted that the law will address age-long shortfall in funding security apparatuses.
While commending Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his wisdom, the Speaker called on individuals and corporate bodies to rise up to the challenges of funding security as a way of tackling the hydra-headed security issues in the country.
After proper debate on the bill motions were moved for it adoption and it was adopted through voice votes and consequently passed into law.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the plenary, the Chairman House Committee on information,Olugbenga Omole explained that the passage of House of Assembly Commission bill was part of the prerequisites for the final take-off of the Legislative autonomy across the states of Nigeria.
