The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has conducted a peaceful local government congress in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.
The exercise, held at St Mary Mega Primary School, Oke Oka, attracted party leaders, delegates and members who participated in the process without any reported disruption.
Speaking with journalists after the congress, former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Victor Olabimtan, described the exercise as orderly and hitch-free.
He explained that the affirmation method adopted by the party helped to ensure unity among members while preventing unnecessary disputes during the selection of local government officials.
Olabimtan noted that the congress formed part of a statewide exercise conducted simultaneously across the 18 local government areas, adding that no adverse reports had been received from any council.
According to him, the peaceful conduct of the exercise demonstrated the level of cooperation among party members and strengthened the party’s internal structure at the grassroots.
Also commenting, the Chairman of the Ondo State Hospitals Management Board, Victor Olusegun Ategbole, commended party members for maintaining discipline and unity throughout the congress.
He said the calm atmosphere and maturity displayed by stakeholders reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and organisational stability.
Ategbole further appreciated party leaders, delegates and members for their cooperation, which he said contributed significantly to the success of the exercise.
He also lauded the leadership of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for strengthening party structures across the state and fostering cohesion among members.
