The eldest daughter of the late gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu, otherwise known as Omije Ojumi, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her mother, describing her as a woman of strength and virtue who remained devoted to her family despite the challenges she faced in her marriage.
Speaking at the service of songs held in the singer’s honour on Wednesday, her daughter, Jomiloju, said her mother maintained an unwavering presence in their lives, noting that she stood firmly by her children even during periods when their father was absent.
She explained that her mother was driven by a strong desire to raise disciplined and responsible children, determined that they would not repeat what she considered her own mistakes in marriage.
Jomiloju added that her mother placed high value on education, often making sacrifices to enrol her children in the best schools she could afford in a bid to secure their future.
In an emotional moment, she also publicly vowed to honour her mother’s wishes by taking care of her younger brother and guiding him on the right path.
“I promised my mum that I will take care of my younger brother.” He will be the prayer warrior and responsible son she wanted him to be…, she said.
