…pledges transparency

The Ondo State Government has reiterated its commitment to a corruption-free society, declaring that transparency and accountability will remain at the core of its governance agenda.
This assurance was given by the state Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr Johnson Alabi, during the presentation of the Corruption Risk Assessment (CRA) report to the Ministry by the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC) following the completion of the exercise.
Commending the Commission for what he described as a thorough and professional job, Alabi said the successful assessment underscores the state’s resolve to institutionalise transparency across all sectors.
“On behalf of the ministry, we are proud of your work.
” This certificate is a testament to a job well done. We stand for a corruption-free society and will continue to promote transparency, as we have nothing to hide,” he stated.
The commissioner stressed that accountability remains a fundamental pillar for sustainable development, adding that the ministry is committed to discharging its responsibilities with integrity in line with the broader vision of the state government.
He further called on other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to embrace similar assessment processes to strengthen public trust and collectively drive development in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Retired Justice Williams Akintoroye, noted that the CRA initiative is part of ongoing reforms aimed at preventing corruption rather than merely reacting to it.
He emphasised the need for sustained political will and institutional support to entrench transparency across government operations.
Akintoroye pointed out that countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Rwanda have recorded significant success in tackling corruption through deliberate reforms, expressing confidence that Ondo State is on the right path.
“With the right political will, Ondo State can achieve similar success,” he said, urging the ministry to ensure full implementation of the report’s recommendations.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Adeyeye Adewole, commended the ministry’s leadership and staff for their cooperation, noting that the certification qualifies of the ministry as CRA-compliant for a two-year period spanning 2026 to 2028.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Olabode Yusuf, assured that the ministry would carefully review the report and implement necessary measures to further strengthen transparency and operational efficiency.
