The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to climate-smart agriculture following the commissioning of a solar-powered dryer in Aule, Akure, a project aimed at reducing post-harvest losses among farmers.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Engr. Leye Akinola, commended the initiative spearheaded by Pastor Michael Adeyiwolu, describing it as a timely intervention that will directly benefit farmers and strengthen food security across the state.
Represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Foluke Tunde-Daramola, the commissioner praised Farm Eaze Global Limited for organising the commissioning ceremony.
He emphasised that agricultural innovation must reach grassroots farmers and promote sustainable, climate-smart practices.
Akinola disclosed that the state government is currently developing 32,000 hectares of farmland under its Integrated Food Security Programme to boost production and enhance value chains.
He reiterated the government’s readiness to partner with individuals and organisations willing to invest across the agricultural sector.
“Agriculture is a business,” the commissioner stated, urging young people to emulate Pastor Adeyiwolu’s foresight by exploring opportunities within the sector.
Also speaking at the event, Bishop Felix Adejumo, General Overseer of Agape Christian Ministries, lauded the project and called on the Ondo State Government to replicate the solar dryer model across local government areas to curb post-harvest losses.
In his remarks, Mr. Michael Adeyiwolu described the project as a significant milestone for Farm Eaze Global Limited, noting that it addresses one of the most pressing challenges confronting farmers — the loss of produce after harvest.
