Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has called for unity among security agencies to tackle crimes and other social vices in the state.
Olokode made the call when he a paid courtesy visit to AbdulKadir Sulu, the state Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), at the Command’s office in Osogbo.
The police boss stated that hoodlums had advanced in the way they carry out their operations.
Olokode said in view of this, there was need for security agencies to change their tactics of operation.
He stressed the need for training and retraining of officers.
The CP frowned at the frequent clashes among the junior officers of the NSCDC and police officers.
Olokode said that involvement of security agencies in conflict could spell doom for the national security.
He, however, lauded NSCDC for the mutual cooperation with the police, pledging to improve and sustain the synergy with the corps in fighting crimes in the state.
Responding, NSCDC State Commandant, Sulu assured the police commissioner that his men and officers were ready to partner with the police in combating crimes.
“NSCDC and police are partners in business of protecting lives and property of Nigerians.
“NSCDC will always promote a peaceful working relationship with other security agencies,”he said.
