Detectives of Osun State Police Command have launched a manhunt for suspected group of cultists who allegedly murdered a man identified as Ouadri Agbefawo.

The State Police  Public Relations Office, Yemisi Opalola, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the development to our correspondent via phone call.

He said men of the State Criminal Investigation Department and Anti Cultism Squad of the Command are on the trail of the killers.

She assured that the perpetrators would soon be brought to book, saying no stone would  be left unturned to apprehend the suspects.

Agbefawo was killed by his assailants who had earlier given him a hot chase before he was eventually caught and hacked to death.

Reports had it that Agbefawo was a notorious and deadly member of Eye confraternity and was  murdered by some  members of a rival cult group

Eyewitnesses near the scene of the incident said Agbefawo was killed by the assailants that accosted him around at Abaku Area of Osogbo around 2pm on Saturday.

The deceased, it was learnt, was trailed to the area and seized by the assailants who hit him with many dangerous weapons and left him soaked in blood after which they fled the scene.

A roadside seller, who simply identified herself as Titilayo, said, “We all fled as some boys carrying sticks, matchetes and charms attacked Agbefawo.

“He attempted to flee, but those that attacked him were many and they must have studied his movement well.

“He was left with serious injuries on his head. He bled to death on the spot. No one could go near him. I watched happenings from a hiding near the scene.”

A reliable security source, who pleaded anonymity, also told our correspondent that the deceased had been on the watchlist of the Anti-cultism unit of Osun State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force for killing two people.
