By Precious Owolabi, Ado Ekiti

The Ekiti State Government has said the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has set a new benchmark for progressive and people centred governance, citing achievements across major sectors of the state’s development.

The Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, made the assertion during a radio programme in Ado-Ekiti.

He said the Oyebanji administration has consistently fulfilled its promises and justified the confidence reposed in it by the people of the state.

According to him, within a short period in office, the governor has redefined governance in Ekiti through purposeful leadership, prudent resource management and a strong commitment to citizens’ welfare.

He noted that deliberate and inclusive policies have transformed key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, security and infrastructure, placing the state on a sustainable growth path.

In the education sector, Olatunbosun disclosed that all 203 public secondary schools and over 900 public primary schools across the state have been renovated.

He described the move as a reflection of the administration’s belief that education remains the foundation of societal development.

He added that the government has recruited 1,800 teaching and non-teaching staff, introduced free education from primary to secondary levels in public schools and increased subventions to tertiary institutions to ensure academic stability and uninterrupted learning.

On workers’ welfare, the commissioner said the administration cleared outstanding pension arrears owed to retirees, some dating back to 2012.

He described the payment as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to restoring dignity and financial security to senior citizens.

Speaking on healthcare, Olatunbosun said the government has renovated facilities across all tiers of the health system and ensured free access to essential services, including malaria treatment, antenatal care and routine immunisation.

He added that modern medical equipment has been supplied to health centres to improve service delivery and boost public confidence.

In the area of security, he said the administration has strengthened grassroots security through the deployment of Agro Marshals, Amotekun Corps and the Peace Corps to complement conventional security agencies.

He added that the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state have been equipped with technology-driven tools to enhance intelligence gathering and operational efficiency.

On agriculture, the commissioner revealed that more than 7,000 youths have been empowered with financial support, farm inputs, seedlings and access to farmland to promote food security and job creation.

He also noted that secure farm dormitories have been constructed to encourage year-round farming and protect farmers.

Olatunbosun further stated that electricity supply has been extended to over 50 towns and villages, with transformers distributed and Independent Power Plants installed in hospitals and other critical public institutions to ensure uninterrupted services.

He urged residents to continue supporting the administration to sustain the state’s development momentum and consolidate ongoing achievements..
