Children are reflections of their parents’ character as they serve as the dams from which the children can tap from.
However, if the dams are empty of values, and the water levels are too low, what will they tap?
Many parents are suffering from the severe infections of “T.B” ( too busy). Though, the cost of living is high, the cost of loving is affordable, hence the need to build the future leaders.
Every Child has a gold and potentials and it is the parents’ duty to mine the gold out of them. But many are failing in this wise
The home is the first classroom in which a child sits and learn. Unfortunately, some of the teachers, that are the parents have absconded from duty.
When some children are asked, they tell you that the TV set is their daddy, because they see him every day. The radio is their mummy, she talks whenever they want. Physically, they may be in the university, but mentally they are in kindergarten ,with their minds still wrapped up in diapers because they lack home training.
Therefore, do not just be the head of a home but the mentor of the children. Some people believed that an acronym for parent are, personal friend, Available, reliable, entertainer, needs and teacher.
The parliaments and cabinets are the brain of the government but the family is the root of the nation therefore, when the family fails to stand, the nation falls.
Parents must teach and train their children properly because, we are already living in a world where the internet have become the norms of the society. This is the more reason parents should train their children about the dangers underneath technology.
Parents should keep devices out of the children’ bedroom to avoid distraction and should be taught that private information should not be shared on the Internet.
Parents should teach their teenage girls cleanliness during menstruation and boys to avoid smoking and taking hard drugs.
Kidnapping is already a common thing, Parents should teach their children never to listen to or follow strangers. Teenage girls should be taught not to be wayward and the consequences of teenage pregnancy.
Children should be taught to always be contented and avoid stealing. All these points together and more, when taught, builds a happy home. Also, parents should perform their duties and roles and ensure that their children are educated and avoid bad friends.
Remember that children are like a gift ,and heritage from God. You should, as a parent provide accountability for their use and you shall be audited as well, hence the need to create time for your children inspite of your tight schedules.
