…recover heart and remains in Oyo
Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested ten men suspected of operating a human parts trafficking syndicate following a months-long intelligence operation across the state’s Oke-Ogun axis.
The operation, executed by detectives from the Command Monitoring Unit, targeted multiple hideouts in the Iseyin and Saki areas.
Police officials said the arrests followed extensive surveillance and tracking of the syndicate’s activities.
Police identified the suspects as Adam Ibrahim, 42; Nasiru Kabiru, 22; Tijani Wasiu, 54; Abiola Nasiru, 45; Amusa Gbadamosi, 57; Raheem Taofeek, 46; Jimoh Muritala, 35; Suleiman Busari, 47; Ganiyu Nurudeen, 36; and Usman Abdullahi, 52.
During searches of the hideouts, officers recovered items including a suspected human heart, human flesh, skull fragments, and various charms.
The recovered remains have been secured and sent for forensic analysis.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the suspects confessed during initial interrogations to dealing in human remains for ritual purposes.
Investigators are currently working to identify the sources of the body parts and trace the wider network of suppliers and buyers.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the monitoring unit for its work on the case. He stated that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks in the state and urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to local authorities.
Police said efforts to apprehend additional members of the syndicate remain ongoing.
