The Ondo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to ensure the safety and security of corps members serving across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, gave the assurance when the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Bakare, led her management team on a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Akure.
During the visit, Mrs. Bakare expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and the Command for the support and security provided to the NYSC Scheme, particularly in safeguarding corps members before, during and after orientation exercises, as well as throughout their service year.
She also called for sustained collaboration among security agencies through stronger inter-agency synergy, enhanced intelligence sharing and reinforced institutional cooperation to effectively tackle emerging security challenges and improve public safety.
Responding, Ohagwu commended the NYSC for its contributions to national unity, youth development and nation-building, assuring the delegation that the command would continue to work closely with the scheme to guarantee the safety of corps members.
The police commissioner said the Command had taken note of the issues and requests presented by the NYSC and remained committed to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment across the state.
He reiterated that the state Police Command, under his leadership, would continue to embrace proactive policing, effective collaboration with critical stakeholders and strategic partnerships aimed at sustaining peace, public safety and security.
The visit was attended by members of the Command’s management team and featured the presentation of an NYSC magazine to the Commissioner of Police by the State Coordinator.
