Reps Bye-Election: Adu Olumuyiwa emerges PDP flagbearer

Two days after a young business man, Lawson Alade emerged the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Akure South and North Federal constituency bye-election, Adu Olumuyiwa has emerged the flagbearer for the major opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday.

In a primary election held in Akure with 234 delegates from two local government areas, Adu had 98 votes to beat other four aspirants.

The main election comes up on February 26, 2022.

At the primary election, Kemi Adesanya scored 70 votes, Babatunde Faro  40 votes, Ahude Dayo 16 votes while Alarapon Adebayo had eight. A ballot paper was voided.

After being declared winner by the, five-man electoral committee under the chairmanship of Dr Amos Fawole, Adu Olumuyiwa attributed his victory to God.

He said he never considered himself as the best but God decided to bless him because he believes in him.

He said he wholeheartedly accepted the election result due to its transparency.

He pleaded with other aspirants to join hands with him to make  PDP better.

Reacting, the Ondo PDP Chairman, Fatai Adams said the party would do its best to win the election.

Dr Fawole, while speaking with The Hope after the election, said the party would not forget other aspirants and they will all support the winner in the February 26 election.

Speaking after the declaration, many of the party members were filled with jubilations, saying, “it is whom we want that won.
