As part of efforts to widen the scope of its circulation, the management of Owena Press Limited, publisher of The Hope Newspaper has introduced a new offer of home delivery of the newspaper to subscribers.
The first phase of the subscription initiative will cover Ijapo, Alagbaka and Oba-Ile with benefits of 15 percent discount on one year and above subscription among others
Speaking at the rally organised to sensitize members of the public about the subscription during the weekend, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Owena Press Limited, Sir Ademola Adetula said, “The objective of this programme is that we want to move ourselves from the conventional way of selling our newspapers . In the past, we had challenge getting our money back from vendors but now we want to take our papers to the readers and convince them to buy in the most convenient way possible, cheap and stress free.”
Speaking further, Sir Adetula encouraged the staff at the rally that , “We have started and we believe we have the capacity to talk to the people and convince them. That is the most important thing. Once you are able to convince people, they will queue and buy into your project.”
Also speaking, the Head of Circulation department, Owena Press Limited, Mr Ayokunle Awe said, “Today, we are sensitising the public on our special offer of home and office delivery. We have delivery bike riders who will deliver the newspapers to readers in their homes or offices.”
According to Mr. Awe, “The Hope Newspaper is rich with rich current news on both local and national events and we want more people to have access to its rich contents . It is the foremost newspaper in Ondo State and we want to maintain that lead.”
In the course of the sensitisation rally, residents of the affected areas who expressed positive opinion about the newspaper lauded the initiative of the publishing outfit and promised to continue to key into their initiative to boost the newspapers sales.
A newspaper vendor in Akure, Mr. Asiko Owoyemi, commenting on the newspaper recommended that the newspaper should get accurate and current reports particularly about Ondo State.
He noted that the paper has been recording more sales in recent times, saying that he is familiar with The Hope and would like to be given more copies for him to sell, adding that more people are asking for it because of its rich contents.
Mr. Olalekan Makanju, an artisan said, “I read The Hope every time it comes out. It is very rich and interesting. It’s satisfactory. I have no problem with it.”
Speaking on the subscription, Mr. Makanju said he loved the idea and would gladly key into it.
The Hope also spoke with Pastor Allen Humble who said he was familiar with the newspaper and had been reading it. His words: “So long as the content continue to be riched and factual, I will continue to patronise it.”
Another resident of the estate who pleaded anonymity said he was aware of the newspaper and had been reading it. He equally expressed his satisfaction about the contents of the paper.
However, Mr John Olatunde, another resident in Akure while acknowledging that he reads every edition of the newspaper suggested a reduction in number of government related news items in the paper. He suggested that the sports pages and the number of human angle stories bè increased .
