The Joint Task Force NorthEast Operation HADIN KAI has dealt a major blow to the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), neutralising eight terrorists on Monday in a fierce encounter along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route.
The clash occurred in the early hours of September 15, 2025, when troops ambushed the insurgents near Garin Giwa. The terrorists, who attempted to disrupt military operations in the axis, met stiff resistance, resulting in the death of eight fighters, including two Munzirs and a Qaid.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, identified the neutralised terrorists as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota.
Several others reportedly sustained gunshot wounds while fleeing the scene.
Troops also recovered 14 motorcycles abandoned by the escaping terrorists, significantly weakening the group’s mobility and logistics in the region.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its resolve to eliminate terrorism in the NorthEast and restore peace to affected communities.
The military high command commended the troops for their resilience and urged them to sustain the momentum despite prevailing challenges.
