Two men arraigned for allegedly stealing iron door

Two self-employed men, Olamilekan Olaitan, 25, and Taye Awolowo, 22, have been arraigned before an Iwaro-Oka Magistrate’s Court over the alleged theft of an iron door valued at N100,000.
The defendants were brought before Magistrate B. A. Ikusika on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
According to the prosecution, the offence was committed on January 4, 2025 at about 11:30 am at Akua Quarters, Akungba, Ondo State.
Inspector Boboye Olasunkanmi, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants conspired to steal an iron door protector valued at N100,000, which belonged to one Olaitan Samuel.
The offences are said to contravene Sections 516 and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Inspector Boboye requested an adjournment to allow him time to study the case file and assemble witnesses for the trial.
The defence counsel, Prince T. M. Agbede, did not oppose the prosecutor’s request but appealed to the court to grant bail to the defendants on liberal terms.
Magistrate Ikusika granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to January 15, 2025 for hearing.
