As part of her pledge to prioritise staff welfare upon assumption of office in July 2025, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, has commenced the payment of the 2024 Minimum Wage and its consequential adjustment to both academic and non-academic staff. The payment took effect with the October 2025 salary.
The development reflects the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to ensuring that staff remain well motivated to contribute their best towards the progress of the institution.
Reacting to the payment, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Joint Action Committee (JAC), UNIMED Branch, Comrade O. G. Abayomi, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for fulfilling her promise.
According to him, “On behalf of JAC congress and executives, I sincerely appreciate our amiable Vice-Chancellor for the fulfilment of her promise. Two promises were made by her within two months of her reign, and both were soundly fulfilled.”
Similarly, the Chairman of NASU, UNIMED, Comrade Adebayo Moses, commended the management for the gesture, describing the Vice-Chancellor as “a committed leader per excellence.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of NAAT, UNIMED, Comrade Yinka Adelakun, said, “This gesture reflects true leadership and respect for the workforce. It will foster motivation, trust, and institutional harmony.”
The general consensus among staff is that the Vice-Chancellor is a dependable leader dedicated to the welfare of the university community
