The new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, assumed office on Wednesday, July 23.
Professor Adejuyigbe’s assumption of office came on the heels of the release of the white paper that emanated from the report submitted to the Visitor to the University, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa by the Visitation Panel.
Adejuyigbe, a Professor of Paediatrics, hails from Akoko NorthEast Local Government area of the state.
She is the current Executive Director of the Central Office of Research at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife and a Consultant Paediatrician at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.
She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine, former Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, OAU and is the Vice-President of the African Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Co-Chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee.
Recall that Prof. Adejuyigbe’s appointment was made public on Friday, March 7, 2025 based on the recommendation of the Governing Council of the institution to the Executive Governor of Ondo State.
Professor Adejuyigbe is the first female and third substantive Vice-Chancellor of UNIMED.
