21-year-old in court for N1m theft

A 21-year-old petrol attendant, Abosede Olarewaju, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo town, for stealing N1,062,263:13 from a Petrol Station owned by one Emmanuel Adegoke.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.
The defendant was said to have committed the offence on November 13, 2020 at about 10am, contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
Police prosecutor, inspector Benard Olagbayi, who told the court that he would call two witnesses to testify in the case, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.
Lawyer for the defendant, P O Afolayan, applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two credible sureties in like sum.
He said the sureties must be residents within the jurisdiction, while photocopy and original copy of identification card should be attached.
Al-Yunus adjourned the case till January 26, 2021 for hearing.
