Police arraign apprentice over stealing

A 31-year-old apprentice, Olayele Olorunyomi, has been dragged before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo town, for stealing items worth N683,840 property of one Adegboyega Segun.
The police brought Olorunyomi before the court for conspiring with others still at large to commit the offence.
Items stolen are: cash of N647,340, one Tecno Mobile phone valued at N26,500, two mobile phone chargers valued N4,000 and one Holy Bible valued N6,000.
The defendant who is now facing two – count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
He was said to have committed the offence on November 28, 2019 at about 9pm at Road 8 Christland in Ondo, contrary to and punishable under sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Bernard Olagbayi, who told the court that he would be calling two witnesses to testify in the case, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.
Lawyer for the defendant, S. O. Okewoye applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
He said the sureties must be residents within the jurisdiction, while they must show evidence of payment of tax for the current year, attached affidavit of means, passport of the defendant and surety must be attached also.
Al-Yunus adjourned the case till February 4,2021 for hearing.
