Two persons including a 50-year-old woman, Adenike Adelegan have appeared before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over allegedly assaulting a school proprietor.
Adelegan and one Adewole Emmanuel ,21, whose addresses were not given were charged with assault, willful damage and breach of public peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simon Wada, told the court that the defendants and others still at large committed the offences on June 5 at about 10am at Olubade Academy, Adebowale Street, Oke-Aro Akure.
Wada informed the court that the defendants assembled in premises of Olubade Academy Akure and conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
Wada said that the defendants mobilized unknown thugs to attack the school proprietor one Olusanya Oluwatoyin.
They were also alleged of beating the complainant with fist blow which caused injury in his mouth.
Wada added that the defendants, damaged the school gate valued at N80,000 caused chaos and public disturbance by their conduct.
The offences, he said, contravene Sections 516,351, 451, 249, 69 and 70 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty
The Magistrate, D.S. Sekoni, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till July 14 for a hearing.
