A 54-year old man, Okerebe Emmanuel, has been arraigned before an Akungba-Akoko Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a Maxi medium-sized generator valued at N140,000.
The police arraigned the defendant before Magistrate K.A. Kolawole,.on a two-count charge bordering on stealing.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence in August 2026, in Akungba, within the Akungba-Akoko Magisterial District.
The prosecutor, Inspector Boboye Olasunkanmi, told the court that the defendant had recently been sentenced to five years and six months’ imprisonment, with an option of a N350,000 fine.
The offences contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant, who was not represented by counsel, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Kolawole ordered that the defendant be remanded and adjourned the case to September 2, 2026.
