Arrest illegal vehicles entering Ondo, CP directs officers

The Ondo State Police Commissioner, Undie Adie, has warned officers posted to borders across the state to be vigilant and proactive in apprehending vehicles or persons illegally entering into the state.
To this end, policemen have been mandated to conduct
h on all vehicles carrying food items and essential materials that are permitted during the COVID -19 lockdown.
The state police boss had sounded the warning in a statement signed by his Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee -Leo Ikoro, pointing out that he observed some dubious drivers were bringing passengers into the state of conveying food items during the lockdown period.
CP Adie warned his men not to condone any act of recklessness, indiscipline or unprofessional conduct, especially this period that the pandemic was hard effects on the people of Ondo State.
He warned those in such habits to desist from such, saying whoever caught would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He, therefore directed that all trucks conveying foodstuffs and essential commodities entering the state must be properly checked.
The police boss said the command would not tolerate any disrespect to the lawful orders and directive of the government, adding that despite all odds, his men have exhibited a high level of professionalism in dealing with people during this COVID 19 lockdown .
“To continue to see or hear of inter-state passenger transport vehicles into Ondo State while we man all entry-points into the state puts us in bad light.
” I will therefore warn that men at border posts must be extremely and judiciously vigilant never to allow anybody or vehicle without the authorization of government entry into the state”
