Boy, 6, dies in stream during rain

Tragedy struck in Yaba area of Ondo town, when a 6-year -old boy, Michael Oriade, reportedly drowned in a stream during the heavy rain that fell in the town.

The Hope Metro reliably gathered that the boy got drowned in a stream close to their church in Odo-Ayo area of Yaba, in Ondo West Local Government.

It was learnt that the victim and his elder sister went to a Celestial church located on the same street to attend children choir practice in preparation for the children harvest when the incident occured.

The boy was said to have told other children at the rehearsal that he wanted to bath inside the rain before the incident which claimed his life happened.

An eyewitness said his lifeless body was later found floating on the stream, after the rain had stopped.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the mother, Mrs Evelyn Oriade who is a director currently working in Ondo East Local Government council proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.

Our source said the mother of the boy was at home when he and others left for the choir practice.

The police in Yaba Division, Ondo said the matter has been officially reported at the station.

The body of the deceased has been taken by his family for burial.

When our correspondent visited the area, several residents and the church members wore sad looks, while some were sitting in groups discussing the development.
