The newly commissioned computerized Vehicles Inspection Centre in Akure will mitigate incessant road accidents in Ondo State.
The State Chairman, Road Transport Employer’s Association of Nigeria, (RTEAN), Prince Williams Adepoju stated this in a chat with The Hope in Akure.
He said that road accidents in the state have become worrisome and have left many families in pains, stressing that many vehicles being inspected at the centre will reduce carnage on the roads in the state.
Adepoju commended the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for putting the centre in place.
On road constructions across the state, Adepoju lauded the governor for embarking on it, saying that the step has further reduced accidents in the state.
He appealed to Governor Akeredolu to look into the request of drivers in the state by empowering them with more vehicles to ply their trade.
The Deputy State Chairman, Mr. Adewale Bolarinwa commended the governor for constructing standard roads in the nooks and crannies of the state, positing that the roads will increase the life span of vehicles and will also reduce road accidents.
He mentioned that the overhead bridge under construction in Ore and several others ongoing in the state would not only beautify the state, but will attract investors .
He commended him for his vision to develop the state, urging him not to rest on his oars. Bolarinwa however called on the state government to wade into the bickering between the two unions in the State, saying if such is not urgently settled, it could degenerate to crisis of great proportion.
He is of the opinion that the two driver’s unions could work together for the progress of their members and the state .
