Expectations from the new Chief Judge of Nigeria

Residents of Araromi Obu in Ondo State have lamented that the social-economic activities in the town have been grounded due to the current curfew imposed by the government.

It will be recalled that the state government had ordered a twenty-four hour curfew on Ago-Alaye town after a communal clashes that broke out over a land dispute to prevent the escalation of the violence.

One pastor died and properties worth millions of naira were during the crisis.

Chairman, Araromi Obu Development Community Committee, Mr. Bisoye Monebi said no community would ever pray for a communal clashes because he said it affects development negatively.

He appreciated the government and traditional rulers efforts to bring peace to the affected communities urged the people to continue to cooperate with the security operatives.

Prince Olubade Adesanya said the deployment of armed security operatives in the area have made people stay off their normal activities which is farming.

“Our major occupation in Ago-Alaye is farming and we cannot go to farm for now due to the security around. The normal thing is for peace to reign and we are grateful.

 “Since the Governor visited the affected areas, we can now sleep with our eyes closed”.

Caretaker Chairman, Odigbo Local Government, Mrs. Margaret Akinsuroju commended the state government for its timely intervention in the crisis which she said has brought back peace in the area.

“Peaceful coexistence remain our watch word, and the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is committed to it.

“Odigbo and its environs must see peace as the only key to development and we must all work together to move our communities forward.

“It is the responsibility of every citizens to join hands with the government to wipe out crisis and insecurity in our communities. We must be our brothers keeper”.

She urged them to be law abiding and go about their normal activities saying the security officials around is part of government measures to prevent the escalation of the violence.

Akinsuroju said, “We must all be vigilante and report any strange movement to the security agencies, do not take laws into your hands”.

The council boss however thanked the traditional rulers for their supports urged them to take security of lives and properties in their domains seriously and support government efforts to development the area.
