‘farmers warned against planting’

Ondo state farmers have been warned against rushing to plant but to commence land preparation for farming season

The Director of Agroclimatology department of the state Ministry of Agricukture, Mr Rufus Akeju gave the advice in a chat with The Hope.

He described recent rainfalls as pockets of rain, saying that it fell to cushion the harsh weather condition and for land preparation which indicated that rainy season will soon commence.

According to him, planting now is dangerous but urged farmers to wait till March ending or preferably April to begin planting  season.

Land preparation requires land clearing, weeding the farm, ploughing, harrowing and tilling.

It also include putting in place the seeds and seedlings for planting, getting labourers ready, tractor and other inputs needed for cultivation.
