Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government was on Sunday thrown into pandemonium after a man identified as Oladipupo Ebenezer popularly called ‘Obodo’ was killed by unknown gunmen at Akure garage area of the town.
The Hope Metro reliably gathered that the victim was shot dead at a drinking joint in the area by an assailant.

According to a source, the deceased, who was one of the union officials issuing tickets to motorcyclists in the area went to meet his friends where they were enjoying themselves at a beer parlour.

It was learnt that immediately the suspect alighted from a motorcycle, he headed to where the victim was sitting and shot him at close range which resulted to his death instantly while he escaped with the motorcyclist that brought him there.
Our correspondent who visited the area observed people were scared as shop owners closed their shops and ran for their lives because of the lifeless body lying on the ground.
An eyewitness, Mr Bolaji Oni said the person that shot the victim was a cultist and a notorious man in the city, saying he did not know what happened between them that led to the death of the victim.

Efforts to speak with security personnel proved abortive as the entire community was still in agony and confusion.
Mr Ebenezer, who spoke on behalf of the family said the death of their son was a shock, urging the police and other security agencies to investigate the matter and arrest the culprit for necessary punishment.
