I’m alive, Olugbo of Ugbo debunks death rumour

The Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Frederick Akinruntan, has dismissed rumours about his health, affirming that he is alive and well.

This was disclosed by a statement from his palace on Tuesday in response to reports of the monarch’s death.

According to the statement, the monarch, in a phone interview with journalists on Tuesday, which was facilitated by his lawyer, Sola Ebiseni, clarified that he has been on a short vacation and described reports of his alleged demise as false and misleading.

While expressing appreciation for the concern shown by well-wishers, he condemned the spread of baseless information, urging the public to verify facts before sharing.

“In Yoruba land, such rumours are often considered a blessing for long life,” he was quoted as saying.
