Insecurity: Ose LG partners security agencies
By Adeboye Ado
In a decisive move to tackle rising security concerns in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, the council Chairman, Kolapo Ojo, has disclosed ongoing collaboration between his administration and security agencies to stem the tide of violence in the area, particularly following the gruesome killing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward 5 Chairman, Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi.
Ojo, who made this known during a series of engagements with stakeholders and a condolence visit to the bereaved family, said the council had already activated strategic partnerships with security outfits to safeguard lives and property in the locality.
The APC chieftain was murdered recently by yet-to-be-identified assailants, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the party and the wider community in Ifon, headquarters of the council area.
Describing the attack as a wake-up call, Ojo assured residents that security infrastructure would be overhauled to prevent a recurrence of such tragic events.
“Our administration is not folding its arms. We are working hand-in-hand with relevant security agencies to ensure that this kind of incident does not happen again. The safety of our people remains our top priority,” he said.
While speaking at the residence of the slain APC leader, Ojo offered words of comfort to the grieving family, reaffirming the council’s commitment to support them during this difficult time. The visit came shortly after party members staged a solidarity rally at the local government secretariat to condemn the attack.
The condolence visit drew the presence of several notable APC figures, including the Ondo North Senatorial Chairman, Pa Jacob Makanjuola Oredola; former member of the House of Representatives for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Eni Omosule; member representing Ose in the State House of Assembly, Olatunji Oshati Maxima; and former council Chairman, Denis Alonge Niyi, among others.
Also reacting, the APC local government Chairman in Ose, Chief Ladi Tenabe, praised the swift response of the council Chairman, urging him to sustain efforts at reinforcing security across the council area.
He stressed that the murder of the party’s grassroots leader underscored the urgent need for comprehensive security reform at the local level.
As residents continue to mourn the loss, local authorities say all hands are on deck to ensure justice is served and that lasting peace is restored across communities in Ose Local Government Area.
