A 49-year-old-man, Oluokun Akeem, has been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged N10million visa fraud.
Akeem, who was arraigned on three counts charge pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Adesegun, told the court that the accused person committed the offences sometimes in the month of July, 2019, at about 8:10.a.m, in the Akure Magisterial district.
Adeoye said that the accused person intentionally obtained several millions of naira from different people under the pretence of helping secure vissa to different countries.
He added that the accused person, converted the said amount to his personal use not minding the stress and pains he had inflicted on the complainants.
He told the court that he was prosecution ready to present ten witnesses before the court to witness against the defendant.
He said the accused person, obtained the alleged sum from one Bosede Anuoluwapo and one Prince Abiodun Joshua under the pretence of procuring Canadian and Australian Visas for them.
The offences committed contravened Sections 386 and punishable under sections 139 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol1 Law of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
The defence counsel, Mr A. R Orungbeja prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr. Mayomi Olanipekun granted the accused person N10million bail with one surety in like sum, and adjourned till April 27, 2021 for trial.
