A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced a 20-year old man, Olanrewaju Timilehin, to four months of community service for stealing kegs of palm oil and a keg of prayer neatener.
The convict had pleaded guilty to the theft of five 25-litre kegs of palm oil and one 25-litre keg of ‘prayer neatener,’ all valued at N300,000 belonging to one Mrs Modupe Adeboye.
Delivering his judgement, Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon ordered that Timilehin should serve four months of community service as punishment for the offence.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 16, 2025, at Nova Road in Ado-Ekiti, where he unlawfully entered the complainant’s residence and stole the items.
Adeniji said the offence contravened Sections 303 and 301 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
Defence counsel, David Ogbede, had prayed the court to temper justice with mercy and grant his client a non-custodial sentence, citing his remorse and age.
The court granted the plea and imposed a community service sentence accordingly.
