An Akure Magistrate’s Court has remanded Oladeji Hammed in Olokuta Correctional Centre over an alleged car alternator theft.
Hammed was arraigned by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, on a four-count charge of theft.
According to the prosecuting counsel, DS Msonter Shagba, the incident occurred on October 24, 2025, at about 5 a.m. on Ifesowapo Street, Gabson area, Igoba, Akure.
The prosecution told the court that the defendant allegedly stole one car alternator belonging to Kehinde Olafunmiloye, valued at N40,000, and another belonging to Folorunsho Babalola, valued at N45,000.
She further alleged that the accused stole a car alternator and kick starter worth N60,000, property of Ojo Audu.
Shagba also claimed that Hammed stole an A/C compressor valued at N150,000, belonging to Sikiru Ogunjobi.
The offences contravene Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
When the charges were read to him, Hammed pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, said that the witnesses were ready, but sought an adjournment to review the case file.
Defence counsel, D.S. Ominidougha, requested that the court grant bail on lenient terms, assuring that his client would not evade trial and would present credible sureties.
In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted Hammed bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties each of the same amount.
The magistrate ruled that the sureties must submit affidavits of means, provide two passport photographs of themselves and the accused, and prove they are gainfully employed by attaching evidence to the bail bond.
He also directed the sureties to deposit N150,000 each as bond, payable into the High Court registry for the complainants’ benefit, while instructing the orderly and registrar to verify their addresses.
However, Hammed was remanded in Olokuta Correctional Centre after failing to meet the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned to December 3, 2025, for hearing.
