The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has announced the passing of its President, Ifedayo Akindoju.
In a post on its official X handle on Friday, the federation expressed deep sorrow over his demise, confirming that he died on Thursday.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Nigeria Tennis Federation announces the passing of our President, Ifedayo Akindoju, who left us on Thursday,” the statement read.
Reacting to the news, Ondo State Table Tennis Coach, Olakunle Fadoju, described the late NTF President as a visionary and passionate leader who dedicated his life to the advancement of tennis in Nigeria.
“His leadership left an indelible mark on the growth and development of tennis in Nigeria. It is a great loss to the sport, the federation, and the nation. Personally, I will miss him for his commitment, determination, and vision for grassroots development,” Fadoju said.
The federation added that Akindoju’s unwavering dedication to players, coaches, officials, and the entire tennis community would be remembered for years to come.
It also extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the tennis fraternity both within and outside Nigeria.
