The Local Government executive officers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who will serve the party for the next four years across the 18 councils in Ondo State have emerged through consensus arrangement.
Among the local governments’ excos chairmen that emerged during last saturday congress are Mr.Fesobi Akinmolayan,Akure South, Mr. Pelumi Aro,Ondo West, Mr. Fredrick Otemuyiwa, Ondo East, Oladimeji Tenabe, Ose and Mr. Samuel Balogun Olusanya, Owo.
Others are: Mr. Bode lkulala, Okitipupa, Imam Abdulmumini Saliu, Akoko North East , Joshua Eleti, Akure North and Tunde Fawoyi, Ifedore.
The Acting Chairman of the party in the State, Mr. Ade Adetimehin lauded the party members for maturity displayed in complying with the rules guiding the consensus adopted for the congress.
Adetimehin said the exercise was an improvement on the last ward congress saying the LG congress was peaceful because party members were well organised.
“The local government congress went on peacefully in Ondo State and it was conducted as required by the law. Ondo State is a state to be proud of under APC. Members were well organised. They comported themselves in line with the rules and regulations.
“We held a stakeholders meeting and it was unanimously agreed that we are going to select our executive through consensus. Our ward congress is the best across the country and we are going to build on it. All the leaders agreed on consensus,” Adetimehin said.
Though it was a consensus arrangement, members of the party who participated in the congress passed through all electoral procedures.
On his part, the Chairman of the Ondo State Local Government Congress Committee, Mr Gboyega Isiaka, described the process as wonderful.
He said issues arising from the Ward Congresses had been resolved and all necessary materials were distributed as planned.
Commenting, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Multilateral and Intergovernmental Relations, Mrs. Bunmi Ademosu said the peaceful congress witnessed proper conduct of members of the party,describing the consensus adopted for the exercise as the best for the party.
She further described the congress as unique exercise which had the unanimous support and one voice of party leaders and elders on equitable distribution of all 27 executives into all 11 wards in Akure council as well across other local governments.
According to her ” It was really consensus and not an imposition on members. In today’s congress , we never had it fantastic in Akure South Local Government.
“The consensus was possible because we believe in one leadership of the governor whom the party’s leaders and members have agreed with that consensus should be adopted”
Also,, the immediate past State Commissioner for Natural Resources, Mr. Idowu Otetubi said the party made rightful decision in adopting consensus method based on agreement from all members at ward to local government levels.
He noted that the arrangement gave room for inclusive involvement of all members at the grassroot in choosing their leaders.
On his own part, the State Youth Leader of the party, Olutayo Babalayo, said there was improvement in the congress compare with the recent ward congress as all divergent interest within the party was taken care of.
