The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has issued a query to one of its officers over the alleged assault of a student at Victory College, Ikare-Akoko, in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Command’s spokesperson, Femi-Daniels Aidamenbor, confirmed the development in a telephone interview on Wednesday.

Aidamenbor stated: “The officer has been queried. He was summoned from Ikare to Akure. He has actually been queried for the way he handled the matter. Even though he was acting within the mandate of the call, the way he handled the matter was actually not encouraging.

“The officer erred. Even if you’re applying capital punishment, it shouldn’t have been on the body of the young man. That was where he actually erred, and the State Commandant frowned at that.”

A blogger based in Ondo State, Ogbeni OB Sugar, had earlier taken to his verified Facebook account to allege that the student was flogged by an NSCDC officer on the instruction of the school principal.

Ogbeni wrote: “My attention was drawn to this report some minutes ago, and according to the report, which read thus: ‘This is how a 13-year-old boy was flogged yesterday, March 3, 2025, by the NSCDC through a principal in a public school at Victory College, Ikare, Akoko, Ondo State.

“This happened just because the boy accidentally in.jured his classmate while they were playing with a plastic water bottle.

“The boy was bailed from the NSCDC office at Ikare Command for N3,000, yet the principal is still demanding another N10,000 from his mother, claiming it is for the government.
