Ondo vaccinates 34,795 residents

Thirty four thousand, seven hundred and ninety five residents of Ondo state have received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine out of which 9,769 are health workers while 11,392 are strategic leaders.
Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency(OSPHCDA), Dr. Francis Akanbiemu disclosed this while speaking with The Hope.
According to him, there has been an impressive turnout of people noting that health workers have accessed the vaccine even beyond imagination.
He said; “As at Friday 26th. March, 2021, 9769 health workers have been vaccinated. Others who are not purely health workers but have something to do with health services and others including military, petrol attendants, taxi drivers etc who have received the vaccine are 13,634. In all, 34,795 have been vaccinated including strategic leaders across the state.”
Speaking further, he stated that there has never been any case of serious adverse effect of the vaccine on the people except exceptionally minor cases of mild reaction and pain at injection spot.
While noting that all hands are on deck by the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency for the arrival of the consignment for the second phase of the vaccine, he advised the people in other categories to mate themselves available for the vaccination when the time comes.
However, he charged those who have been vaccinated to ensure that they take the second dose of the vaccine as stated in their card on their first dose, as and when due.
It would be recalled that the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN took the first jab of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine dose alongside his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa shortly after the official flag off of the vaccine on March 10, 2021 in Akure while other residents began to receive it on the 19th. March, 2021.
