The Osun State Police Command has apprehended two brothers alleged to be part of a syndicate specialising in motorcycle theft across the state.

Their arrest followed a series of complaints lodged at the Ikirun Area Command, prompting the deployment of detectives who acted swiftly on intelligence to track down the suspects.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspects, identified as Ajala Idowu, 40, and Ajala Maruf, 56, were arrested while in possession of one of the stolen motorcycles.

Ojelabi disclosed that the stolen motorcycles include a blue TVS Lady Motorcycle with registration number KNR 759 UM, and another TVS Motorcycle with registration number FNN 898 QE.

The police spokesperson explained that following the reports, officers launched a thorough investigation which led to the arrest of the two brothers who allegedly purchased the motorcycles via Facebook, using the social media account of their younger sibling, Ajala Idowu.

He said, “On the 8th of May, 2025, operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police’s Monitoring Unit, acting on credible intelligence and a tip-off, arrested the suspects.”

Ojelabi further revealed that discreet follow-up investigations led to the arrest of another suspect, Ibrahim Idris, 28, a motorcycle mechanic from Ibadan, Oyo State, in connection with the crime.

The police image maker stated that the investigation has since been concluded, and all suspects have been charged to court for prosecution.

The Command, while reiterating its commitment to combating crime in the state, urged members of the public to remain security conscious and promptly report any suspicious movements or breach of law through the following dedicated lines:
