The Chairman of Owo Local Government area of Ondo State, Mr. Tope Omolayo on Monday, declared open, training programme for members of the newly established Owo Security Network (OSN).

The initiative, according to the council boss, is aimed at complementing the efforts of the police and other security agencies in tackling the rising cases of kidnapping and other crimes in the town.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Omolayo urged the trainees to commit themselves fully to the task ahead, stressing that the safety of residents depended on their dedication and courage.

“You must not allow fear to hinder you from carrying out your duties diligently.

“You will face discouragement from people and situations, but if you remain focused, nothing can deter you. When purpose is known, there is no room for abuse.” he said

Also speaking at the event, the Assistant Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogunwumi Abiodun, described the assignment as selfless service that should not be done with the expectation of personal gain.

He advised the recruits to embrace dedication, effective communication, and fairness in the discharge of their duties.

On the sideline of the event, legal practitioner, Omosua Olufemi said “a person is primarily responsible for their own security, noting that the initiative would help curb the recurrence of tragic incidents in Owo Local Government, whether robbery or mass killings.”
