Tragedy struck in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State on Tuesday, following the discovery of the lifeless body of an Islamic cleric, popularly known as Nashiru Ajagbe, who was allegedly murdered by yet to be identified suspected cultist in the town.
The middle-aged man, described as a staunch Islamic faithful, was reportedly attacked by his assailants in Atundaolu street, Irona area of the town.
The deceased simply addressed as Alfa by friends and folks, was attacked on his way home from a mosque in the area.
Though, the cause of the late cleric’s murder still remained sketchy as of the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the suspected cultists shot at him and when they realised the bullets did not penetrate his body, they used a big stone to break his skull.
A source in the area who also knew the deceased said he was known to be a gentleman on the street and popularly known as an Islamic cleric.
The source who craved anonymity, revealed that a man popularly known as Obo was killed a day before the incident at the Post office/old garage area of the town, which suggest that the killing was a reprisal attack by the cult group.
” Alfa was returning home around 6:30pm to 7pm to break his fast, when he was waylaid and attacked by some persons believed to be suspected cultists in Atundaolu area, very close to a brothel on Irona street.
