Suspected ritualist nabbed in Akoko

The long hands of nemesis   have caught up with a suspected ritualist, who allegedly attempted to abduct a seven-year-old girl in   Ikare Akoko.

The Hope Metro gathered that the   suspect,  who reportedly feigned lunacy was  arrested in Oja Oba area of Ikare-Akoko on the New Year eve while  trying  to lure the  girl.

He was said to have  dressed in rags, pretending to be a lunatic when caught in the act by some people around the scene.

Some of the items found on him when he was caught were different fetish materials which included  a yard of white cloth, dead fowl, dead bird, red oil, snail shell laced with unknown feathers.

Other items like charms and ritual substances were also found in his pocket.

He was apprehended by some vigilant residents and passersby when he was luring the little girl to cover her head with the white cloth found on him at the Oja -Oba area of Ikare Akoko.

When The Hope  Metro visited the scene, the suspected kidnapper and ritualist who simply gave his name as Ololade Omogbehin, disclosed that he is from Omifon Aladua, in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State confessed not to be mad.

According to him, he was going to Ilesa, Osun State and decided to take Ikare route. When he was queried about the lifeless fowl and the red oil in his possession, he said the items  were given to him by some people on his way to Ikare and that  the fowl was killed by a vehicle.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of  anonymity said the suspect  was caught while trying to lure the young girl of to a corner.

The eyewitness stated that he was caught by some good  people who watched  him from a distance  and  became suspicious of his movements.

“Please let’s be vigilant, and God will continue to expose the evil doers,” the witness said.

The timely intervention of men of the Nigerian Police Force rescued the suspect from being set ablazed by angry residents,  as they whisked him to their station.

When The Hope Metro  visited the police station, Ikare Area Command on Tuesday, the first day of the year, the supposed lunatic was still in the police custody.

Meanwhile a reliable police  source  in Ikare said the matter was still being investigated and the suspect might soon be transferred to Akure for further investigations.
