President Bola⁰ Tinubu has renewed the tenure of the Director-General of the National Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.

The renewed tenure of the two media chiefs will take effect from October 20, 2026, following their reappointment by President Tinubu, who first appointed them to their respective positions on October 20, 2023.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, adding that the President urged the two chief executives to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Tinubu also charged Dembos and Ali to remain committed to the mandates of their respective organisations and the promotion of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dembos, an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, is a former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).

He joined the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989 after his National Youth Service and rose through the ranks to serve as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano.

Dembos later served as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre before retiring from the organisation in 2017. He subsequently served as Executive Director, Marketing, at the NTA.

Ali, meanwhile, is a veteran journalist and media manager with over 30 years’ experience in the media industry.

He holds a first degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University, Kano.

The NAN chief executive is also known for his interest in media evolution and content development in the digital era, with emphasis on meeting the information needs of diverse audiences through alternative news platforms.

Onanuga said the President expects the two media executives to continue to demonstrate commitment to their organisations’ mandates and contribute to the advancement of the Renewed Hope Agenda during their second term
