Operatives of the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) have arrested a suspected kidnapper, Lucky Itopa, who allegedly abducted one Yesufu Ahmadu in Ajaokuta and collected ₦6 million ransom before releasing his victim.

According to a statement by KSVS spokesperson, Idris S. Idris, Itopa was apprehended at about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, at Upake village in Ajaokuta Local Government Area following credible intelligence.

The suspect reportedly squandered the ransom money on alcohol, hard drugs and commercial sex workers, while he also purchased several Android phones, a new motorcycle and an electric generator.

He has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Adogo Division, along with the recovered items for further investigation and prosecution.

KSVS Comptroller General, Sani Omeiza Ibrahim (rtd.), commended the operatives for their swift action and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities across the state, while appreciating Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support of local security operations.
