Yuletide: Priotise safety, road users charged

As Christmas and the New Year festivals are fast approaching, motorists and other road users have been charged to prioritise safety and adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

The call was made yesterday as Ondo State Youths, under the aegis of the Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security Affair (CONYSAA) in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) took to the roads to sensitise road users on the need to maintain sanity on roads at all times, by adhering to traffic rules and regulations.

CONYSAA Ondo State Coordinator, Adeshina Osewa said the essence of the sensitisation was to ensure motorists do not indulge in drinking or abuse drugs and substances while driving, and to avoid over speeding.

He said “All these pieces of advice are for the safety of the drivers and the passengers on board. During this yuletide, most people tend to disobey traffic rules just to rush down to places of one event or the other as we are in a season of surge in road users.

“Drivers also tend to increase speed beyond limit so as to amass more profit. I appeal to every user of the road to always prioritise their lives above other things,”

He added that road users should consider the slogan “Arrived alive” as they prepare to celebrate the festivals and beyond.

He charged motorists to have all necessary documents to be on the roads.
