The Director General of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Akinsola Akinbobola has charged the management and players of Sunshine Queens to return triumphant from the maiden edition of Besty Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT).
Akinbobola stated this while addressing players and officials of the team before departing for Benin to participate in the invitational tournament.
The tournament, which will be holding in Benin, Edo state capital will span through September 26 and October 4, with a total of twelve teams participating.
He noted that the competition would be the first challenge the team was going to face after super six and urged them to be diligent and committed on the pitch of play.
“This is the first challenge that you are going to face, go out there and make us proud, even in Edo State which is a neutral ground, you can do it.
“Show respect, outplay the match officials, and be a good ambassador of the state. The best thing is to come home with that cup.
“Winning is important! score goals,we will be praying for you,” he said.
The Skipper of the Team, Elizabeth Johnson assured of the commitment and resilience of the players to shine and come out victorious in Benin.
The 12 participating teams are eight NWFL Premiership; Rivers Angels FC, Bayelsa Queens FC, Edo Queens, Sunshine Queens FC, Robo FC, Royal Queens FC, Confluence Queens FC,Naija Ratels FC.
The Championship teams are;Kaduna Queens FC, Heartland Queens FC, Fortress Ladies FC and Rolly FC.
