The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, has launched a special operation tagged ‘Operation Le Won jade’  (Operation flush them out) to intensify border patrols across the state during the 2025 ember months.

The operation, flagged off on November 5, 2025, covers key boundary points between Ondo and Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti, as well as Ondo and Osun States. The event took place at Ajebamidele, on the Ondo–Ogun boundary, where Amotekun officers from both states jointly commenced the exercise.

Speaking during the launch, the Ondo State Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the initiative was made possible through the support and commitment of the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

“This joint border patrol between Ondo and Ogun states is a renewed effort to secure our communities, forests and farmlands during this critical ember period,” Adeleye stated.

“We are determined to drive away kidnappers, bandits, armed robbers and miscreants from our forests and borders,” he stated.

Adeleye urged residents to be security-conscious and report any suspicious movement or unfamiliar faces to Amotekun or other security agencies by calling the distress line 0807 999 989, assuring that help would come promptly.

Highlighting the command’s new technological edge, Adeleye unveiled state-of-the-art drones fitted with surveillance and tracking equipment designed to identify and monitor criminal hideouts within forest reserves.

Demonstrating the drone’s capacity, it was flown from the launch site to Ore and Ijebu-Ode to showcase its long-range capabilities.

“This is not business as usual. We now have modern tools to expose and apprehend bandits hiding in our forests. Security is a collective responsibility  Amotekun alone cannot do it,” Adeleye noted.

The event drew representatives from Ogun State Amotekun,  Osun Amotekun, local traditional rulers (Olus and Baales), market leaders (Iyalojas and Babalojas), Agbekoya, OPC, Jadiodo, National Forest Security Services (NFSS), local hunters, FRSC officials and members of border communities who expressed gladness and gratitude to the Ondo state Governor in bringing the launch of ‘Operation Le won jade’ to save their states and communities from bandits.

The location launched of ‘Operation Le Won Jade’ and the 2025 Ember-Month patrols were also held along the Iju–Itaogbolu–Ikere Road on the Ondo-Ekiti boundary, Ondo- Osun boundary along Akure- Ilesa road  and Ondo -Ogun boundary along Benin -Ore express way emphasising inter-state collaboration to maintain peace and protect commuters, farmers and residents throughout the festive season.
