Employee docked for stealing Coop N2m

For allegedly stealing N2.2million belonging to Akure lreti Ayo Co-operative Multipurpose society, a 35-year-old employee, lbrahim Olalekan Gegele, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court.

The accused person allegedly committed the offence on February 11, 2022 at about 4pm in Akure.

Olalekan, who is standing trial on one count, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

The police prosecutor, Adedayo Suleiman told the court that the accused person allegedly stole N2.2m of Akure Ireti Ayo Cooperative Multipurpose society.

The offences contravene Sections 388 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap, 37. Volume 1Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

Counsel to the defendant, Fasanmi Oye prayed the court to admit his client to bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate Temitayo Owolabi, in his ruling, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1000,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till June 3, 2022 for hearing.
